The Power of Perseverance and Life Skills

Remember our ‘Life Skills’ project? While the project ended in 2022, the impact continues to ripple through lives like Karim’s.

The spring and summer of 2022 marked the beginning of a significant journey for Karim. He joined the Life Skills project to build essential skills and explore his dreams for the future.

Karim wanted to become a taxi driver. He saw this as a symbol of independence and belonging. But like many things in life,  the journey to reach this goal wasn’t straightforward. There were various hurdles and frustrating delays sometimes requiring him to navigate the same bureaucratic loops multiple times. This required patience and persistence. Throughout these challenges, Karim’s determination, nurtured by the goal-setting support of the Life Skills Project, remained unbroken.

Nearly three years after first setting his goal at The Well, Karim returned with incredible news: his Glasgow taxi license was approved and he was purchasing a car!

Karim’s journey is a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of the Life Skills Project. It showcases how the initial encouragement to set goals, combined with an individual’s unwavering perseverance and The Well’s ongoing support, can transform lives. Despite numerous obstacles, Karim remained focused. Thanks to his determination, resilience and the power of hope, Karim is now achieving his dream. His story inspires us all, reminding us that with dedication and the right support, new beginnings are always possible. We look forward to seeing Karim thriving on the roads of Glasgow. 🚕🚕
