A city is big and can feel lonely. Having a sense of community can help. 2023 has been a hard year for many, further exposing the members of our community that are lonely or low on income. It’s also a year that has seen a rise in divisive cultural and faith issues on the world stage, creating polarising dialogues and leading to an increase of intolerance and prejudice. We need the common bond of community more than ever.
From January – November 2023, The Well Multi-Cultural Resource Centre (The Well) has supported over 2000 people through our free one-to-one advice consultations, our women’s ESOL classes (English to Speakers of Other Languages), and social groups Chai & Chat and Bubbles toddler group. We’re also in the process of expanding our social program with a Men’s group. The Well moved to a bigger office in April 2023 giving us 50% more capacity and more privacy in our Advice Centre. The demand for services provided by The Well remains high. We are prepared to continue to do our part, to support more people, and be a blessing to our neighbours from all over the world.
It’s incredible how much the cost of living crisis has hurt people financially, by how much change and uncertainty in the world has affected the vulnerable members of our local community. But it’s also heartwarming how many communities across the Southside of Glasgow have come together to support each other. The Well could not help as many people as we have without you! With your continued support we can help our friends, our neighbours, our local community. Together we can challenge loneliness, break down stereotypes and nurture resilient relationships. Every year we run a Christmas appeal to support the work we do, helping our neighbours and community. Here’s how you can help…..
£10 could contribute towards volunteer expenses for our 25 amazing volunteers.
£15 could help a socially-isolated mum with no family in this country make new friends and start building a support network at one of our women’s groups.
£20 could help a family in financial crisis access vital sources of additional income through a one-to-one advice session.
£50 could help towards costs to keep The Well warm and bright for clients, staff and volunteers this winter.
