How we help

Do you want to improve your English language skills?

Maybe you want to be more confident in speaking English in your day-to-day life. Perhaps you struggle with reading in English?

Our female-only ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes are designed to help students improve their English language skills in speaking, reading, listening and writing. This will ultimately improve your quality of your day-to-day life as you live in an English-speaking country. It is also a good opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.

What to expect

These sessions normally begin with an informal time to chat and get to know others in the class. The class is then split into small groups. Each group has a teacher who will facilitate an ESOL lesson and continuously assess your ability, encourage you and help your confidence to grow as you learn.

The sessions end with everyone being offered a tea/coffee and a biscuit and an opportunity to practice your conversational English as you chat to one another.

This activity is funded by Baillie Gifford (administered by Foundation Scotland).

Here’s what one of the women had to say…

“The most important thing I have gained is confidence to use the English language in everyday life. Now I can help my children with their homework.”
