We’ve heard many things about our new premises. Our favourite comment so far is: “The Well people have always been good, now the building is good too!” While the new office has been open, operational and well used by our service users since April, on Tuesday 24 October we marked the space as “officially” open.
We were delighted to welcome The Lord Provost, members of the Church including the Moderator of the Presbytery of Glasgow and the Presbytery Clerk, former volunteers, partner organisations and other members of the community to mark the occasion. It really was an official event!
Chairman of the Board, Rev. William Wilson, kicked off the event with a warm welcome and introduction.
The plaque was unveiled by the Right Honourable Lord Provost, Jacqueline McLaren. She was thrilled to have her name on the plaque and noted the importance of the work we do and the value it brings to the local community.
Rhoda gave thanks to the Lord Provost for helping mark the occasion and also thanked the generous donors who helped make the new office possible. Their support is now visible to all on a new donor board in the reception area.
Moderator of the Presbytery of Glasgow, Rev. Dr. Roger Sturrock, said some kind words and led us in a blessing.
We also heard from service user Adam and volunteer David about the impact of The Well on the community and on individuals.
Being so official is hard work and deserves a treat! With business complete, guests, staff and volunteers were able to relax, mingle and enjoy a delicious spread of cakes, teas and coffees.
