On Wednesday 11 March we celebrated the official end of our 25th year! Over 100 people came along to Govanhill Free Church, current and previous staff and volunteers, clients and supporters, to hear of the impact The Well has had on the community of Govanhill over the last 25 years.
Chair of the board, Rev William Wilson welcomed everyone and invited founder, Catriona Milligan to speak, followed by the moderator of the general assembly of the Church of Scotland, Rev Colin Sinclair, then our longest serving volunteer, Lesley Lucan, concluding with our current Manager Rhoda. Each reflected on what The Well means to them and the values it is built on, and wished to one day attend The Well’s 50th anniversary!
A special lunch followed, giving the opportunity for those attending to chat about their connection to The Well over the years, and the 25th anniversary cake was cut.
Catriona Stewart from the Glasgow Evening Times attended the celebration and her full report can be found here.
