ESOL and Practical Health
This week, our ESOL class focused on turning essential English skills into real-life confidence. A recurring theme in our ESOL sessions is a high demand from our women learners to feel comfortable and capable when speaking with General Practitioners (GPs) or other medical staff. The ability to attend an appointment alone and effectively communicate personal symptoms or concerns is a fundamental step toward self-sufficiency and empowerment.
A Visit from Breast Cancer Now
This week were thrilled to host Linda from Breast Cancer Now for a dedicated public health talk.
It was a fantastic and practical morning! Our ESOL ladies not only sharpened their English language skills by discussing complex topics but also gained important accessible knowledge about their bodies and cancer awareness. Linda’s presentation was great. She made a serious subject easy to understand, which is exactly what we aim for in our practical lessons.
A massive thank you to Linda for dedicating her time and expertise to our community!
Strength Through Community Support
Our ESOL sessions are possible because of strong local partnerships.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Govanhill Free Church (@govanhillfree) for consistently providing the welcoming space that allows us to host these important, practical ESOL classes. Their support is integral to ensuring our learners have a safe and accessible environment to build both their language and life skills.
We believe that when language skills meet essential life knowledge, our learners gain confidence for everyday life.
