Every Picture Tells a Story

A Legacy of Connection

Every week at The Well, we are surrounded by the day-to-day work of supporting our community. But sometimes, a single moment of connection comes along to remind us just how deep and enduring those roots really run.

Recently, our manager was at a local community event and struck up a conversation with someone who had known The Well as a child. They fondly remembered our very first manager, Catriona, and spoke about the profound difference The Well had made for their family.

This person is now a grown adult living a few miles away. Looking back, they shared how far the family has come in the intervening years. They recalled that even as a child, they recognised how special the work The Well was and how it helped their family. They held onto those warm memories of the community they were a part of.

That is incredibly special. We are so proud of this legacy.

This chance encounter highlights that our mission is still going strong. Just this past Wednesday, we posted on our social media accounts about the seating arrangements in the Advice Centre and the intentions behind them. Our goal has always been to walk alongside people through their journeys, pulling up a chair right next to them to help shoulder the weight of whatever challenges they are facing.

When you look at these photos from the beginning of The Well, you see decades of exactly that. Each face represents a unique journey, a family supported, and a life touched.

We are  honoured to be a part of these long-term stories, and to keep building a lasting legacy of community, connection, and care.
