In the reception area, a couple were chatting with one of the volunteers. Mr M said “I have been in many cities in England, and there is nowhere like The Well. This place is great. Â But who pays for it, who pays for the lights, and the computers and the phones and everything.”
(We had previously told them that we are a charity, not a government agency – so no funding from any official bodies.)
Faye replied: “Churches and individuals who like what we do give us money to cover our running costs.”
Mrs M pointed at Faye and the other volunteers and said: “But they work for free. God pays them”!
