In the reception area, a couple were chatting with one of the volunteers. Mr M said “I have been in many cities in England, and there is nowhere like The Well. This place is great. But who pays for it, who pays for the lights, and the computers and the phones and everything.”
(We had previously told them that we are a charity, not a government agency – so no funding from any official bodies.)
Faye replied: “Churches and individuals who like what we do give us money to cover our running costs.”
Mrs M pointed at Faye and the other volunteers and said: “But they work for free. God pays them”!
