Feel Good Friday: Stories of Hope and Transformation at The Well

At The Well Multi-Cultural Resource Center, we are always amazed by the resilience and strength of the people we serve. As we reflect on the past week, we wanted to share some stories that highlight the power of community, support, and kindness. These moments remind us why we do what we do, and we are so grateful for the incredible support we receive from you—our donors, volunteers, and community partners.

1. Reunited and Rebuilding: A Family Reunites

There’s a lot of conflict happening beyond our borders. One of the most moving moments this week was seeing a family together again after being separated by the horrors of war. For months, they had lived apart, uncertain of when or if they would be together again. But thanks to support provided at our Advice Centre, we were able to help one member of the family with a funding application to bring the remaining members of the family to Glasgow. Now all members of the family are safe, together, and rebuilding their lives in Glasgow.

Seeing the joy on their faces is a reminder of how powerful the gift of support can be. As they settle into their new community, they know they’re not alone. They know The Well is here to provide ongoing support, helping them navigate their new environment.

2. A Listening Ear: Empowering a Mum in Need

This week, we also had the privilege of supporting a mum who has been struggling with her child’s additional support needs, while also managing her own health challenges. As a single mother, she often feels overwhelmed, with little time to care for her own well-being. When she came to The Well, this mum received practical advice that helped ease her burdens.

One of the most powerful aspects of our work is making people feel heard and valued. After the most recent advice session, this mum commented how grateful she was to find a place where she was truly listened to. For this mum, knowing she was not alone, and that there are people ready to support her, made a world of difference. By helping her access the resources and care she needs, we’re empowering her to feel more confident in her role as a mother and as an individual. We’re proud to stand alongside her as she continues her journey.

3. Kindness Recognized: The Power of Compassion

Sometimes, we don’t fully understand the impact we have on others. This week, a member of one of our social groups was genuinely surprised when someone complimented them for showing kindness and compassion. Their reaction was one of humility, but also of recognition that their kindness has a ripple effect in the community.

At The Well, we believe that everyone has something special to offer. Whether it’s a smile, a word of encouragement, or simply being present for someone in need, acts of kindness transform lives. In this case, we were able to remind someone just how valuable their presence and compassion truly are.
