It’s Happening!

On the run up to Christmas 2021, we ran a Christmas Appeal called ‘All we want for Christmas’. This was to raise money specifically for a new premises that we hoped to lease long-term. The property was a commercial unit on the ground floor of a newly built residential block of flats owned by Southside Housing Association. It required to be fit-out extensively as it was an empty shell, but gave us the unique opportunity to fit it out according to our exact needs, and those of our clients. There have been substantial delays along the way that have been outwith our control, but a year later, on 22 December 2022, we finally got ‘all we wanted for Christmas’ as the lease was finally agreed and signed!

The keys were handed to our building contractors on Monday and work on our new premises has commenced! We are absolutely delighted and are so thankful for all the support we have received for this project. The premises will have 50% more space, increasing our capacity to help more disadvantaged families every day. There will be a large Reception area that can also be used for group activities, and more consultation rooms to allow privacy for clients. The kitchen area will be big enough to provide a private space for staff and volunteers to sit in during lunch breaks.

As you can imagine, the cost of the project has increased significantly with inflation and the time delay.
